imagePakistan thrashed Ireland by a mammoth 255 runs in the first one-day international at Malahide on Thursday.

Ireland was chasing 338 for victory, were skittle out for just 82 inside 24 overs. This was the seventh largest victory, in terms of runs, in the history of one-day internationals.

Sharjeel Khan did not only make his maiden century but also marked the third quickest 150 in the format in terms of balls faced, and Imad Wasim took five wickets for just 14 runs for the first time in his career, as the Irish team was left hapless against the Pakistan bowling.

Imad Wasim’s figures were the best by a Pakistan left-arm bowler. He bettered Wasim Akram's 5 for 15 which were the previous best by a Pakistan’s left-arm bowler in ODIs, as per espncricinfo.com.

Previously Imad had taken seven wickets in his first six ODIs before this match and this was his maiden five-wicket haul.

Experienced pacer Umar Gul also made an impressive return to ODI side after a gap of 16 months, taking three wickets for 23 runs. But pace man Wahab Riaz and leg-spinner Yasir Shah, who both featured in the recent 2-2 drawn Test series against England, were omitted from the ODI side.

This is the first of a two-match series, with the teams set to return to Malahide, near Dublin, on Saturday ahead of Pakistan’s five-match ODI campaign in England.
