LAHORE: Spokesman Punjab government Zaeem Hussain Qadri on Monday said that PTI leader Shafqat Mehmood had shown political wisdom and honesty by quitting his position as Lahore organiser by accepting responsibility of party's humiliating defeat in the local bodies elections.
Commenting on the resignation of Shafqat Mehmood, he said, he had exhibited complete political sanity and urged Imran Khan to follow Shafqat, instead of playing politics of sit-in and levelling rigging allegations.
He asked PTI chief to come forward and contribute in nation building task. "Dharna politics has already made serious dent to national economy besides hindering development process in the country," he added.
He said, PTI leadership was in state of shock over the worst performance in local bodies elections. He advised Imran to show political maturity like Shafqat Mehmood and eschew politics of criticism.
Zaeem said, results of local bodies elections had proved the fact that Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz was the most popular party of the country having roots among masses. He said, people had once again given unprecedented mandate to PML-N because of its welfare services and mega development projects.
Meanwhile, PML-N Lahore Vice President Sohail Shoukat Butt said, Shafqat Mehmood's resignation was first drop of rain as more from the PTI's key leaders were in the pipeline.
He said people were well acquainted with Imran Khan's political style and would not be hoodwinked by his hollow but attractive slogans any more.
" PML-N Matchless victory is a proof of peoples' great love with party leadership," he said, adding masses hate politics of hooliganism and fray as they wanted development and prosperity of the country.
He said the PML-N government was striving hard to bring the country out of darkness and determined to overcome energy crisis.
