swat-snow-fall_400ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC) is organizing a Ski Camp at Malam Jabba to promote winter tourism in Swat Valley from March 17.

Managing Director PTDC Mir Shahjahan Khetran, will be the Chief Guest on the occasion. Since restoration of peace in the area snow festival is being arranged annually in Malam Jabba.

Located nearly 40 kms away from Saidu Sharif, Malam Jabba is well known as a Ski Resort in winters and an ideal spot for a family picnic during the summer season due to its lush green pastures and thick pine forests.

The Malam Jabba Ski Resort, owned by the Pakistani Tourism Development Corporation, has a ski slope of about 800 m with the highest point of the slope 2804m (9200 ft) above sea level.

The resort is equipped with modern facilities including roller/ice-skating rinks, chair lifts, skiing platforms and snow clearing equipment.

The ski hill at the resort has now been rebuilt and is fully operational while the hotel adjacent to it will be made functional in months to come.

The event includes skiing, gliding, snow trekking and Tobogganing. A large number of people from all walks of life from all over the country are expected to attend this festival.

Special Coaching classes of skiing and gliding have also been arranged for school/university students.
