The Chief Minister made this announcement while speaking at concluding session of three-day Sindh-Hainan Universities Forum here. The forum was aimed at establishing collaboration between universities of Pakistan especially of Sindh and of China's Hainan province. This would include the exchange of students and faculties. The Chief Minister assured all support to the SMIU, which is alma mater of father of the nation Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah. He expressed his satisfaction that it was SMIU which was leading other universities of Sindh and of other provinces in establishing collaboration with Hainan province and later with other universities of China.

He said credit for upgrading SMI to a university level went to last PPP government.

He along with Sindh Senior Minister for Education Nisar Ahmed Khuhro witnessed signing of MoUs with four universities of Hainan province.

He emphasized on further strengthening of relationship between Sindh and China especially through people-to-people contacts.

He recounted his government's efforts for promotion of education over last eight years, which included setting up of 10 public sector universities in the province. He claimed that PPP had always given a top priority to China while establishing foreign relations and collaboration.

Sindh Senior Minister for Education Nisar Ahmed Khuhro said it was great day for Sindh government and the people as many MoUs were signed with Hainan universities for collaboration in education. This would benefit a lot to students of Sindh.

He said such collaboration should be expanded to other universities of Sindh.
