imageISLAMABAD: The Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan(SECP) on Wednesday organized investor awareness seminars in twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi with an aim to educate investors about sustainable growth of the financial markets, ensuring investor protection and bolstering confidence in the markets.

SECP organized the seminar in collaboration with Central Depository Company (CDC) while similar investor awareness seminars have also been organized by the CDC in Karachi, Hyderabad, Multan, Faisalabad, Lahore and Gujranwala.

According to SECP press statement issued here, the strategic objectives of the SECP include developing an efficient and dynamic regulatory framework that fosters the principles of good governance in the corporate sector, ensuring proper risk management procedures in the capital market, and protecting investors through responsive policy measures and effective enforcement practices.

The SECP's Director, Market Development and Investor Education Department, Naseeruddin Humayun while speaking at the Seminar in Islamabad said that the SECP's service desk was available as a single point of contact for the outside world for any issues that need resolution on the part of the SECP.

The service desk can be contacted in case of issues related to brokers, agents, self-regulatory organizations, listed companies, specialized companies, corporatization and compliance, insurance and e-Services.

The complaints or queries may either be lodged by dialing UAN 051-111-117-327 or through the SECP's website www.secp.gov.pk/servicedesk.

The service desk system has been developed for the recording, monitoring and resolving investor complaints and inquires, he said adding all online complaints are recorded in the system and automatic confirmation in the shape of complaint number is generated and communicated to the complainant.

On the occasion, the investors appreciated the SECP and CDC for organizing these seminars and requested both the organizations to make it a regular feature so that their queries, concerns and complaints may be handled effectively and they remain up to speed on the investment climate with particular reference to protection measures.
