imageISLAMABAD: Eid-ul-Azha, brings good business for butchers and blacksmiths on annual basis, who charge the public at their will, due to monopoly.

With Eid-ul-Azha fast approaching, butchers in the twin cities of Islamabad Rawalpindi have started the preparations in this regard.

A butcher Imran Rao said "days of Eid-ul-Azha bring unusual income for us as we get sufficient business as compared to other days of the year."

"Finding a butcher during the Eid days is a difficult task and for this reason, many people prefer to sacrifice animals themselves to avoid inconvenience," said Adnan Ahmed, a butcher at a local market.

Basit Ali, a blacksmith said that knives of various sizes are being prepared before Eid as their sale increases manifold.

During the Eid days, the knife-sellers also roam around on bicycles to sell their products besides sharpening the old knives.

"We are earning enough income by providing this service to the people before and during Eid-ul-Azha days", a knive sharpener Asif Khan said.

Residents of the twnin cities generally complain that the butchers will be free to charge higher rates for salaughtering sacrificial animals on Eid-ul-Azha while butchers maintain if people could afford expensive animals, then they should also afford high rates for slaughtering.
