sri-lanka 400COLOMBO: Sri Lanka's central bank will maintain a flexible exchange rate for the rupee but it may intervene in the event of too much volatility, the central bank chief said on Wednesday.

"We will allow market forces to take place and continue the flexibility," Governor Ajith Nivard Cabraal said while announcing 2013 monetary and financial policies.

"But we reserve the option on intervening in the event of too much appreciation or too much depreciation."
