BEIJING: The Kasghar Special Economic Zone has attracted a large number of international business community, investors and enterprises and 'in this regard we offer very good opportunity to Pakistan', a senior official from Xinjiang government has said.

"We know that Kashghar has very good trade and trade cooperation opportunities for Pakistan", said Pan Zhongming, Director Research and Development, Department of Xinjiang International Expo Administration while replying to a question at a press conference held on Friday.

The media interaction was conducted to brief about the 2nd China-Eurasia Expo slated for September 1-5, 2012 to be held in Urumqi.

"We have good trade ties with northern province of Pakistan", Pan added. He pointed out that many traders travel from Islamabad and Lahore to do business in Kashgar.       "Pakistanis friends are more than welcome to participate in the second China-Eurasia Expo and you are also more than welcome to go to Kasghar and do business there and enjoy the preferential policies we introduced there", he said.

In Kashgar, he said China borders with neighbouring countries, including Tajikistan, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and India, creating an international market.

Regarding, infrastructure development in Kashgar, he said last year the central government allocated special funds for the development work that were utilised for construction of road, water, electricity and telecommunication projects.

This year, he said they will further increase our efforts in this regard.

In addition to assistance from the central government, 19 provinces and municipalities are also contributing for our development projects, he said.

"This year we have taken all round development of infrastructure there and we will finish 3 Square kilometre special Inspection zone in Kashgar", he noted.    Earlier, the Vice Minister of Commerce Li Jinzao addressing the press conference said second China-Eurasia Expo is expected to attract more than 5,000 international purchasers.

Nearly 21,000 domestic companies will also participate in the event, which will promote economic and cultural relations between China and central Asian nations, Li said.

The vice minister described the upcoming event as an important platform to push forward cooperation in trade, science and technology, transportation, culture, as well as tourism between Asia and Europe.

Ministerial-level forums, culture-promoting activities and trade promotions will be held during the expo, according to Li.

The first China-Eurasia Expo, held last September in Urumqi, secured trade and technical cooperation contracts worth about 130 billion US dollars. The expo was upgraded from the 19-year-old China Urumqi Foreign Economic Relations and Trade Fair in 2010.
