imagePakistani cricketer-turned-politician Imran Khan has talked in favour of Misbah Ul Haq. He believes that keeping in view Misbah’s outstanding captaincy in Test cricket, he should guide the side in all formats of the game.

“If a captain has made you no. 1 (in test cricket) then you should keep that captain in other formats as well,” said Khan while talking to Waseem Badami in an exclusive interview on ARY News.

Imran Khan opposed the idea of having different captains in different formats of the game, “The best captain should lead the side in all formats, and there must be a reason that he is the best skipper then he should play as captain in other formats as well.”

On the perception of specialist long format and short format cricketers, Khan said, “The one that is a good test cricketer can play in other formats of the game as well.”

“There should be one or two changes in the team in different formats, but, when you change the skipper, it disturbs the team combination as a whole,” he added.

“A good test cricketer can perform in 20 and 50 over format of the game as well. The way Misbah has led the team in England, he deserves all the credit for their performance,” he lauded the 42-year-old Test sipper.

“Keeping him out of the ODI team is beyond my understanding.”

Imran Khan had earlier appreciated the performance of Misbah-ul-Haq, who hit a hundred in his first ever Test match at the historic Lord’s in England.
