Student aged 12-15 in Karachi showed their IT knowledge and writing skills as they competed for the final positions in the Intel 'IT Whiz Kid' school quiz competition 2004.
Students from various schools across Karachi were quizzed on their general Information Technology knowledge. Fifteen students from various schools were selected to compete in the IT Whiz Kid Karachi competition where one lucky contestant will have the opportunity to take home a new level Pentium R4 processor-based PC with Hyper Threading Technology.
The 5 final contestants competed in three general rounds, of which the top three scores progressed to the final two rounds.
The contestants answered a variety of skills-testing questions about computer and technology facts and trend. In one of the exiting buzzer round the students were paired up with their teachers to team up and answer a volley of IT related questions.
Mohammad Junaid Ahmed of BVS Parsi High School was crowned as the IT Whiz Kid, Karachi, and was the lucky recipient of a PC powered by an Intel Pentium 4 processor 2.4 GHz with Hyper-Threading Technology based system.
"The response from schools has been overwhelming, said Kamil Hasan, Country Manager, Intel Pakistan Corporation.
"Personal computers are an essential part of our daily lives and today's IT Whiz Kid contest underscores just how much is known about technology and how to use technology to get ahead in the world."
The students who submitted entries for the competition were from a variety of schools around Karachi, including Karachi High School, CAA Model School, Beacon House School Systems, Aga Khan School, The City School, Lady Bird Grammar School, BVS Parsi High School, Mama Parsi Girls High School, Trinity Methodist Girls School, PECHS Girls School, Oxford High School (Gulshan Branch), SMS Aga Khan School and Shah Wilayat Pubic School.
