ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court on Wednesday heard the case about land grabbing of the forest land by the Bahria Town and adjourned the hearing till Thursday.
The court directed all the departments concerned to provide all the relevant details to amicus curie Ayaz Khattak for examining the demarcation of land documents and reviewing the record of Revenue and Forest Departments.
The three-member bench headed by chief Justice Jawwad S. Khawaja comprising Justice Dost Muhammad Khan and Justice Qazi Faez Isa heard the case regarding non-implementation of the apex court's order of with respect to demarcation of land.
Counsel for Bahria Town once again submitted application for adjournment.
Forest land expert Ayaz Khattak appeared apprised the court about measures and steps for demarcation of forest land. On which the apex court directed DCO Rawalpindi Sajid Zaffar and officials of Revenue and Forest land departments to provide details of land demarcation to Ayaz Khattak for examination.
The Chief Justice remarked that forests were the assets for coming generations, which should be preserved from illegal occupation. He said that the court would also issue a directive for protecting forests in the country.
Justice Dost Muhammad Khan remarked that some influential people had grabbed the Dadocha Dam land but the court issued directives for its vacation.
