Today the Pakistan Cricket Board announced their 16-man squad for the Twenty20 series against Sri Lanka due on July 30, 2015.
The T20 squad includes Shahid Afridi (captain), Umar Akmal, Ahmed Shahzad, Nouman Anwar, Muhammad Irfan, Muhammad Hafeez, Mukhtar Ahmed, Shoaib Malik, Muhammad Rizwan, Sarfaraz Ahmed, Yasir Shah, Sohail Tanvir, Imad Wasim, Anwar Ali, Ziaul Haq/Wahab Riaz (subject to fitness).
According to local media reports, the selectors have also named uncapped left am pacer Zia ul Haq as reserve for Wahab Riaz who is still recovering from a hand injury he sustained during the Test series in Sri Lanka last month.
Chief selector Haroon Rasheed said that Wahab had shown good progress in rehab and was most likely to play the T20 matches.
Although, Afridi has proved his mettle as a bowler by taking eight wickets in the last seven matches, he has scored only 98 runs. On the other hand, Hafeez, who has played eight T20s since January 2014, has been able to score 104 runs and has taken just two wickets in the same number of matches.
Pakistan and Sri Lanka will play two T20 matches in Colombo on July 30 and August 1.
