farmer5 400FAISALABAD: Scientists of Ayub Agriculture Research Institute (AARI) Faisalabad have asked the farmers to start cultivation of grams from October 15 and for this purpose recommended varieties of the grams should be sown for getting better yield.

 

A spokesman of the AARI told here on Saturday that agri scientists have recommended gram varieties of C-44, Punjab-91, Betal-98, CM-98 and Punjab Chana-2000 for district Jhang, Khushab, Bhakkar, Mianwali and Layyah; Betal-98, Punjab-91, Noor-91, CM-2000, Punjab Chana-2000 and CM-98 for Faisalabad, Sargodha, Sahiwal and Lahore; Betal 98, CM-98, Neefa-88, Dasht, Parbat, Balkasar and Nahaar for Rawalpindi, Jehlum, Attock and Chakwal.

 

He told that the growers should complete cultivation of grams up to November 15 in Jhang, Bhakkar, Khushab, Mianwali, Layyah, Faisalabad, Sargodha, Sahiwal, Lahore, Rawalpindi, Jehlum, Attock and Chakwal.

 

The farmers of Bahawal Nagar, Bahawal Pur, Raheem Yar Khan and Muzaffar Garh district should complete cultivation of grams up to October 31 by using 25-30 kilogram seed per acre from recommended varieties including C-44, Punjab 91, Betal-98 and CM-98, he added.
