HONG KONG: Hong Kong shares rose 1.11 percent in the morning session on Thursday following another batch of positive US data and International Monetary Fund plans to boost its crisis-fighting coffers.

The benchmark Hang Seng Index added 219.47 points to 19,906.39 on turnover of HK$39.10 billion ($5.0 billion).
