TAIPEI: Taiwan stocks fell 1.07 percent on Tuesday, tracking regional bourses lower, led by banks and technology exporters such as HTC.

The main TAIEX share index opened down 106.13 points at 8,733.09 after finishing almost flat in prior session.

Banking stocks and tech shares dropped 2.4 percent and 1.6 percent, respectively.

Smartphone maker HTC shed 1 percent.
