LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif presided over a high level meeting on Sunday which reviewed the pace of implementation of Annual Development Programme and Special City Development Package.

Senator Ishaq Dar, Member National Assembly Engineer Khurram Dastagir Khan, Chief Secretary, Chairman Planning & Development, Secretaries of Finance, Health, Higher Education and all Divisional Commissioners were present in the meeting.

The meeting reviewed in detail the pace of implementation of development schemes throughout the province.

Addressing the meeting, the chief minister said the government had allocated billions of rupees for the speedy development of the province and provision of basic amenities to the masses and development projects were being executed expeditiously so that people could benefit from them as early as possible.

He said that special measures were being taken for the development of less-developed areas and public welfare projects were being completed in south Punjab on priority basis.

He elaborated that transparency, quality in construction work and early completion of development projects was the priority of the government. He directed that a high standard of development projects should be ensured for the service of people in the real sense.

He mentioned that work on development schemes was in progress, however, chief secretary and chairman P&D should ensure that all remaining uplift schemes were also initiated by 10th March and hurdles in this regard should be immediately removed.

He also issued instructions for the early completion of Bhatta Chowk extension project for the benefit of people. He said that a detailed briefing should be given to him regarding implementation of development projects in the province and Special City Development Package on March 3.

Earlier, Chief Secretary Nasir Mehmood Khosa and Chairman P&D Javed Aslam briefed the chief minister about pace of implementation of the projects under the Annual Development Programmes and Special City Development Package.

The meeting was informed that 98 schemes out of 116 of Special City Development Package have been approved
