Huawei makes fun of Apple’s Face ID fail

Recently, Huawei stole Apple’s spot in being the second largest phone manufacturer. Now, it has taken full advantage of the Face ID fail at Apple’s event last week by introducing their new phone and aiming to steal Apple’s spotlight again.

Huawei posted a video on the social media site Facebook in which they made fun of Apple’s facial recognition. A clown face is shown in the video that the phone fails to recognize and hence, is not unlocked; a representation of the iPhone X’s Face ID feature fail at Apple’s Keynote. However, the failure of the feature was later explained to be a human error.

According to Futurism, Huawei’s video description read: “Let’s face it, facial recognition isn’t for everyone. Unlock the future with #TheRealAIPhone. 16.10.2017”

Earlier, the Chinese phone manufacturer also asserted that their new AI will leave Samsung and Apple behind.

By the ‘Real AI Phone’, Huawei means its Mate 10 smartphone that is expected to be launched on October 16. The phone is also expected to feature Huawei’s first ever mobile artificial intelligence (AI) platform: Kirin 970. The Kirin 970 chipset will be smart enough to identify user’s behavior, assigning maximum RAM and processor power to the process user uses the most. For instance, if the user plays a lot of games, the AI feature will decide the pattern and allot more RAM and power for the gaming process, reported Tech Juice.

The company explained Kirin 970 saying that it will “bring powerful AI features to our devices and take them beyond the competition.”
