KARACHI: As elsewhere, the Eid ul Fitr would be celebrated in the metropolis with due religious fervour.

The main Eid congregation in Karachi would be held at 8 a.m. at the Gulshan-i-Jinnah (Old Polo Ground) where Governor Sindh, Mohammad Zubair, diplomats from the Muslim countries and elite of the city would offer Eid Namaz.

After the Namaz, the governor would exchange Eid greetings with senior military and civil officers, diplomats from the Muslim countries and elite of the city at the Governor House here.

Meanwhile, Namaz-i-Eid would be offered at about 4,000 mosques, Eidgahs, Imambarghas, parks and open places.

After the Eid namaz, the faithful will exchange Eid greetings with one another.

Many people would visit the graveyards to place flowers at the graves of their near and dear ones and offer Fateha.

On the occasion, the people would visit their friends and relatives and also head for the recreational places.

Meanwhile, the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Sindh A.D. Khawaja has directed the Karachi Police to make foolproof security arrangements on the occasion.

In Karachi, more than 9,000 police officers and jawans would be deployed for the security duty.

The IGP has instructed that the process of sweeping and clearance should be ensured for the Eid congregations.

He also directed that random snap checking, patrolling and other security measures should be undertaken for the maintenance of law and order.

The IGP further instructed that foolproof security should be ensured on all the three days of the Eid ul Fitr.

The spokesperson of K-Electric Sadia Dada said on Sunday that there would be no loadshedding in the residential areas during three days of Eid ul Fitr.

She further stated that the staff would remain on duty round the clock.
