COAS offers full support to hosting PSL final in Lahore
LAHORE: Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa Tuesday said that Pakistan army will extend full support for holding Pakistan Super League (PSL) final in Lahore.
Talking about linkage between Monday's Lahore blast outside Punjab Assembly with an attempt to sabotage PSL final, General Bajwa said Army will extend full support to all concerned for holding the event as scheduled.
He was chairing a security meeting at Corps Headquarters, where Corps Commander Lahore Lt-Gen Sadiq Ali and intelligence agencies briefed him on the blast in Lahore.
General Bajwa later visited bereaved family of DIG Ahmed Mobin, who was among martyrs of Monday's blast, and offered Fatiha there. Talking to his mother, he said that the sacrifice of his brave son and those by the nation shall not go in vain.
We have to defeat this inhuman brutal mindset, and as a nation, we shall, said the Army Chief.
He also expressed his grief and extended condolences to other bereaved families of blast victims and visited the injured at Services Hospital.
At least 13 people were killed and 85 injured when a suicide bomber struck Monday evening around 6pm outside the Punjab Assembly in Lahore during a protest, police officials said.
