QUITO: Ecuador’s largest oil refinery, Esmerelda, will begin a 14-month upgrade from Saturday which will require different sections of the plant to be shut down at various periods during the scheduled overhaul, state-run oil company Petro Ecuador said.
During the scheduled 14-month overhaul, the plant is only expected to close down fully for 45 days from Oct 1 to Nov 15.
