ahsan-iqbalISLAMABAD: The PML-N Leader Ahsan Iqbal said on Friday that free and fair general election could bring the country out of "political crisis".

Talking to newspersons, he informed that PML(N) President, Mian Nawaz Sharif has held meetings with opposition leaders, both in the parliament and outside the parliament, to evolve a consensus for a constitutional change.

Ahsan Iqbal said that all the leaders were in agreementd that clash of institutions was not in the interest of the country.

They (opposition leaders) also demanded appointment of an independent election commission to ensure free and fair elections, he added.

He informed that his party would again hold consultations with these parties before the national assembly session on Monday.

Responding to a question, he said that his party is concerned over non-implementation of Supreme Court orders.

He, stressed that continuity of democratic process should be ensured.
