KP police review Covid-19 preventive steps taken in 2 months

A high level meeting held at Central Police Office (CPO) Peshawar on Saturday with IGP Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Dr Sanaullah Abbasi in chair, reviewed the steps taken for prevention of Covid-19 during the period of last two months.
The main purpose of the steps taken by KP was to ensure safety and security of the general public against Covid-19.
The meeting was informed that as per directives of the KP government, police strictly implemented the instructions regarding lockdown in business centres, social distancing in religious gatherings as well as implemented SOPs in this regard.
Besides this the KP police assisted the local administration in tracking and monitoring of Covid-19 patients coming from abroad and kept them in isolation centers.
The KP police also sensitized the general public against the Covid-19 through a well-planned campaign and established quarantine centers in suitable police posts. For this purpose police also provided best security at all quarantine centers as well as in isolation centers for affected people.
Most important was that all police officials deputed for duty were provided safety gears, masks and gloves. Moreover, a proper mechanism of monitoring and surveillance was set up. For this purpose a high-tech Command & Control Center was established at Central Police Office Peshawar.
The IGP talked to the police officials on duty, Covid-19 patients in the quarantine centers as well as the health workers deployed in the quarantine centers through video link and informed on their behalf about their confronting problems and difficulties.
The IGP also took aerial view of different cities and inspected the adopted security measures. A review of the police performance revealed that on violation of government SOPs, a total of 11655 cases were registered and 21381 violators were arrested.
Likewise, 27000 police officials are deputed for implementation of government instructions and 4300 cops for the security of quarantine centers.
A total of 405 areas / places were cordoned off under lock down. Similarly, strict action was taken for prevention of smuggling of contraband items. In this connection 513 cases were registered and smuggling items worth Rs 413 million were taken in custody.
Besides the implementation of lockdown, KP police also provided security to hospitals, quarantine centers, Ehsaas Programme and ration distribution centers as well as fully implemented SOPs regarding inter district transportation.
For security of police personnel, fighting as frontline force against Covid-19, 4635 PPE suits, 92121 masks, 20317 sanitizers, 50688 gloves, 9149 number of soaps, 300 liter bleach and 500 liter disinfectant were provided.
