In pictures: Who wore what at MET Gala 2019

The Met Gala's pink carpet is known for delivering some of the most daring fashion statements of the year and this year was no different. Celebrities gather at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York in the most extravagant, most intensely planned outfits channeling this year’s theme ‘Camp: Notes on Fashion’.

This year’s theme describes the essence of camp as ‘love of the unnatural: of artifice and exaggeration’. At the Met Gala, this translated to a pink carpet filled with over-the-top looks and many a performance art of an entrance.

Lady Gaga

Lady Gaga, one of the co-hosts of the night, vamped on the red carpet in not one but four different looks by Brandon Maxwell, which included a wagon full of champagne, dancers, umbrellas and a flirty striptease. She was one of the best performing celeb to rock the pink carpet.

Billy Porter

Billy Porter entrance involved being carried in by six gold-swathed Broadway actors in an Egyptian-inspired look. He put the best performance on the pink carpet, perfectly following this year’s camp theme.

Celine Dion

The reigning queen of Las Vegas nailed her look dressed as a couture showgirl, complete with bejeweled fringe and a feather headpiece.

Katy Perry

The singer caught everyone's attention as she illuminated the pink carpet dressed as a chandelier. She didn’t impressed much with the creation designed by Moschino and was made up of a dazzling embellished dress. It was encased with a decorative hanging light that featured numerous candles and draped crystal beading.

Kylie and Kendall Jenner

These two did not shy away from the theme, looking like a cross of something between Vegas showgirls and as Kendall’s own Instastories pointed out, ‘the Wicked Stepsisters’ from Cinderella.

Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas

Priyanka Chopra strutted the pink carpet at the Met Gala 2019 in a Dior gown from the Spring 2018 collection. The feather trail added extra drama to her already bold make-up look and head-style.

Nick Jonas looked dapper in a white Dior suit and matched his glittering boots with Priyanka's look for the day.

Jared Leto

Leto, on the other hand, took self-love to the next level when he toted along a replica of his own head to pair with his rich red Gucci ensemble and crystal harness.

Deepika Padukone

Deepika Padukone is winning over social media with her look for the Met Gala 2019. The stunner opted for a Zac Posen gown with voluminous ruffles for the do. The lady completed it with a gleaming diamond hairband, dark lips, colourful eyeshadow and lots of bronzer. Deepika Padukone looked every inch a diva giving much of a barbie/princess vibe.

Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth

Miley Cyrus and husband Liam Hemsworth turn up the heat on the Met Gala pink carpet in Yves Saint Laurent sequin striped dress and sheer black Swiss dot patterned leggings.  The 'Hunger Games' actor, showed off his sleek fashion sense looking dapper in head-to-toe black that perfectly matched his wife’s outfit.

Gal Gadot

Gal Gagot looked angelic on the pink carpet of Met Gala 2019. Her look included an optical white cape dress in lacquered guipure, black bodysuit in silk knit, black high-boots in lacquered guipure, headband in silver-finished metal with crystals and pearls.
