Latif's advice for out-of-form Amir

Pakistan fast bowler Mohammad Amir overlong dry stint with the ball has been a concern for both the Pakistan cricket team and fans. Former cricket captain Rashid Latif says that the fast bowler needs to bowl at fuller lengths in order to take wickets.

“Amir’s economy rate is better than others because he is not taking the chance himself. He bowls at a similar place [line and length] in all formats of the game, and that is why the batsmen don’t take chance against him as it is a good place to bowl at but it is not a wicket taking one.”

“Amir is playing for the economy rate, if he wants to take wickets he needs to bowl fuller. Someone should tell him [Amir] that he needs to bowl fuller in the first three overs of the game to get wickets,” said Latif, while talking at Caught Behind.

Amir is present in England with the Pakistani cricket squad, the fast bowler failed to make into the 15-members squad however, he will serve as cover for the World Cup squad and, if required, can be drafted into the side until 23 May without ICC permission.

“My advice to Amir would be to release the ball a bit fuller, the more he bowls fuller the greater he has the chance to swing it,” said Latif.

Pakistan is set to play five-match ODI series against England from May 5. The squad will then kick off two warm-up World Cup games against Afghanistan on May 24 and Bangladesh on May 26, before taking on the West Indies in their first World Cup match in Nottingham on May 31.
