Will miss Wahab Riaz and Mohammad Amir in World Cup: Shahid Afridi

Pakistan former captain and star-all rounder Shahid Afridi has said he would miss the fast bowling duo of Wahab Ria
Published Updated

Pakistan former captain and star-all rounder Shahid Afridi has said he would miss the fast bowling duo of Wahab Riaz and Mohammad Amir in the upcoming World Cup 2019, after the two were excluded from the 15-members squad of Pakistan.

The former captain pointed out that Riaz has the pace to offer, whereas Amir's bowling would bloom in English conditions. “Must’ve been a tough decision for selection committee to select the best 15-member squad for the World Cup. Best of luck to those who have made it - Hopefully you’ll bring the cup home. Personally, I’ll miss Wahab Riaz because of pace and Mohammad Amir given the English conditions,” tweeted Afridi.

Earlier, Pakistan cricket chief selector Inzamam-ul-Haq informed that Amir will be part of England T20I and ODIs to be played in the lead up to the World Cup from May 5 to May 19 . Amir will also serve as cover for the World Cup squad and, if required, can be drafted into the side until 23 May without International Cricket Council's permission.

“For the T20I and ODIs against England, we have added Asif Ali and Mohammad Amir as additional players. Asif is probably the best power-hitter in Pakistan, while Amir has the experience and a good record in England. These two will provide cover to the World Cup squad and can be drafted into the side by 23 May, if required,” he said.
