The government has allocated Rs 418 billion for power sector for CDWP-approved, unapproved and under-process projects under the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) 2019-20. The key project included in the PSDP is 500 kV HVDC transmission system between Tajikistan and Pakistan for Central Asia-South Asia Transmission Interconnection (CAPA-1000). For this long awaited project, an amount of Rs 7.877 billion has been earmarked in the PSDP.
Most of the approved projects are related to grid stations and 220 kV and 500 kV transmission lines in different cities aimed at improving transmission system and bringing down transmission losses.
