Jordan's state grain buyer has issued an international tender to buy 120,000 tonnes of milling wheat which can be sourced from optional origins, European traders said on Wednesday. Tender deadline is April 9. A new tender had been expected by traders.
Jordan purchased just 60,000 tonnes of wheat in its previous tender for 120,000 tonnes on Tuesday when only two trading companies took part. This was Jordan's first reported wheat purchase since Feb. 26 when the country also bought 60,000 tonnes in a tender after seeking offers for 120,000 tonnes.
Jordan also did not make purchases in previous tenders for wheat on March 26, March 19, March 12 and March 5. Jordan has face difficulties buying wheat and barley in tenders in past months after changed terms for quality specifications and payment reduced participation by international trading houses.
A separate tender from Jordan to purchase 120,000 tonnes of animal feed barley also ended without a purchase on Wednesday when just two trading houses took part. The new wheat tender seeks shipment in a range of possible combinations in 60,000 tonne consignments. Possible shipment periods are September 16-30, October 1-15 and October 16-31.
