Supreme Court disposes of APS attack suo motu case

The Supreme Court (SC) disposed on Monday the sou motu case of 2014 Army Public School (APS) attack, which is the deadliest terrorist attack in Pakistan’s history.

During the case proceedings, the Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) inquired the advocate general of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) about the judicial commission the SC had formed to probe into the APS carnage. The KP advocate general informed the court that the commission had recorded 147 testimonies.

The general said that the commission was in the process of recording another 109 statements, local media reported. He added the commission could not submit its report unless all statements have been recorder. The CJP replied that the apex court is disposing of the APS attack case and directed the commission to submit its report when all testimonies have been recorded.

About 150 people, including 138 APS students, were shot dead on December 16, 2014 by terrorists after they stormed into the school. The chief justice took a suo motu notice in April 2018, after parents of the martyred children approached him on his visit to Peshawar.
