KARACHI: Chief of Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan and Central leader of Difa-e-Pakistan Council (DPC), Syed Munawwar Hassan has said that general elections should be conducted on the basis of transparent voters' lists in the country.
He was addressing a public meeting at Mazar-e-Quaid ground here on Sunday.
Speaking on the occasion, central leader of DPC Maulana Samiul Haq maintained, the people have welcomed the council across the country.
He also presented a 10-point agenda of DPC based on its aims and objectives including - to rid out the country of sectarian and linguistic prejudices -- safeguarding the country from foreign aggression and making the country an Islamic welfare state.
Other leaders of DPC including Sahibzada Abu Al Khair Muhammad Zubair, Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed and Ijaz ul Haq also addressed the public meeting.
Expressing concern over the situation in Balochistan, they announced to convene All Parties Conference on the issue in Quetta on February 23.
Speaking on the occasion, Sheikh Rasheed said that the council will work for the progress and prosperity of the country. The people have imposed their trust in the council by participating in today's conference in large number, he added.
