At least nine persons of a wedding party were killed while 11 sustained injuries when their wagon overturned after hitting the rear of a truck on the M-3 Motorway near Sahianwali, about 30 kilometres from here in the wee hours of Saturday.
The ill-fated vehicle was coming from Lahore.
Nine persons were killed on the spot, while 11 were injured who were later shifted to the Allied Hospital, hospital sources disclosed.
The dead was identified as Chamma, Malik Nazir, Shahid, Sheikh Nazir, Shakir, Ilyas Butt and three others.
A majority of the crash victims, killed and injured, hail from Anarkali bazar area, which remained closed on Saturday to mourn the tragic accident. Namaz-e-Janaza of the deceased was offered at Iqbal Park later on Saturday afternoon.
