The iPhone maker Apple has teamed up with the World Wildlife Fund (WWF), to protect the forests, oceans, fresh water and wildlife.
The Cupertino based "Apps for Earth," a partnership with the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) would raise money for environmental preservation. Apple is going to donate revenue from sales of selected apps during the next 10 days to the WWF, as per CNET.
There are as many as 26 apps included in this program including, Line messenger, Blizzard's Hearthstone, VSCO photo editor, Best Friends, the addictive Candy Crush Soda Saga and Angry Birds 2.
What’s in it for the customers, you say, well consumers can expect to see special content in several apps that has been added specifically for the campaign, which includes free apps such as SimCity BuildIt are part of the program too.
Apple latest move coincide with the iPhone maker mission to go 100pc renewable. As per Apple Environmental Responsibility Report for year 2016, “As of January 2016, we’re sourcing or generating enough renewable energy to cover 93 percent of the electricity we use at our facilities worldwide. In fact, Apple is now 100 percent renewable in 23 countries, including China, Germany, Singapore, and the United States. We’re also 100 percent renewable at every one of our data centers.”
“So whenever you send an iMessage, download a song from iTunes, or ask Siri a question, the energy Apple uses doesn’t contribute to climate change.”
