LONDON: European stocks dived in opening deals on Thursday, resuming heavy falls after Federal Reserve boss Janet Yellen warned over financial market turbulence and the health of the global economy.
In initial trade, London's FTSE 100 benchmark index shed almost 1.2 percent to 5,606.3 points compared with the close on Wednesday.
In the eurozone, Frankfurt's DAX 30 index lost 1.4 percent to 8,887.9 points and the Paris CAC 40 sank nearly 1.8 percent to 3,990.3.
