Pakistani actress Veena Malik has become an inspiration for an Indian model Avani Modi, who will make her Bollywood debut in Madhur Bhandarkar’s upcoming film ‘Calendar Girls’.
Modi will play the role of a Pakistani girl, who comes to India to enter showbiz.
According to Indian Express, Veena’s character was a source of inspiration for Avani Modi’s character. Just like Veena, Nazneen Malik(Avani) is a Pakistani who comes to India with dreams of showbiz in her eyes. Nazneen’s bold moves in India soon make her a subject of controversy in Pakistan just like how it happened with Veena. Protests are staged with people accusing her of lowering their country’s culture and religious image.
Avani in a recent event reveals, “Madhur always make women oriented films. In Calendar Girls, I play a Pakistani girl, Naazneen Malik, Modi plays a Pakistani girl, that’s a bit controversial, everybody ask me, why Madhur gave me such a role, I don’t know why he gave me such a role but she is strong character, she is a very bold girl. She is very ambitious, dream girl,” Indian media reported.
Madhur Bhandarkar always comes up with strong women-oriented movies, he made films like ‘Page 3’, ‘Fashion’ and ‘Heroine’. His upcoming movie ‘Calendar Girls’ will have five new faces and will reveal the world of glamour and High Society. “There are at least a thousand powerful stories waiting to be told,” said Bhandarkar.
