imageISLAMABAD: Former president Gen Pervez Musharraf (Retd) has been charged in the high treason case which is being heard by the Special Court in Islamabad on Monday.

The three-member bench headed by Justice Faisal Arab comprising Justice Tahira Safdar and Justice Yawar Ali resumed hearing of the high treason case against the former military ruler for subverting constitution by proclamation of emergency in the country on November 3, 2007.

Musharraf is accused of treason under Article 6 for suspending, subverting and abrogating the Constitution, imposing an emergency in the country in November 2007 and detaining judges of the superior courts.

The former president has rejected all the charges leveled against him. Justice Tahira Safdar read out five charges to Musharraf, who ruled from 1999 to 2008, with the ex-president pleading "not guilty" to each of them.
