imageGUJRANWALA: District administration has started surveying the flood caused damages to ascertain losses in all the affected areas of the district.

District Coordination Officer Malik Tariq Javed while talking to APP on Monday said that on the directions of Chief Minister Shabaz Sharif so far two trucks loaded with food items have been dispatched to affectees in Wazirbad area.

According to initial reports, in the Gujranwala division that includes Gujrat, Hafizabad, Narowal and Mandi Bahauddin floods have submered about two lakh acres of cultivated area with standing crops cauing heavy losses to farmers and landowners.

Due to flooding and monsoon rains that swelled River Chenab and overflew Nullahs Dek, Palku and other water bodies a number of riverine areas including mauza Sohadra, Behramrana, Luweriwala, Wazirabad, Aliabad, Jabkay chattah, Mundiala, Rasulnagar, Chak Ali sher, Phaloki and head Khanki etc have been inundated. Some 42000 acres in these area have been submerged causing damage to cotton and other crops.

Other areas, including Aimanabad, Kamoki, Wandhu, Sahukee, Kalisuba etc were also inundated causing damages to another 30,000 acres of cultivated land.

District government spokesman said at the relief camps, vaccination of flood hit people has been started, while the cattleheads were also being taken care of by vets.
