ISLAMABAD: Managing Director of Planning Division's Thar Coal Power Project Dr Mohammad Shabbir on Wednesday said that Thar-Coal power project had started during the regime of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto for bringing energy revolution in the country.
Talking to Pakistan Television channel, he said that founder of Pakistan People's Party (PPP) Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, started Pakistan's Nuclear program while Shaheed Benazir Bhutto took initiatives for the national missile program to safeguard the country.
He appreciated the efforts of President Asif Ali Zardari for providing financial assistance to Thar-Coal power project to bring the country out of the energy crisis.
He said "We have sufficient coal reserves which can be utilized for producing energy to meet the growing demand of the country."
Replying to question, he said "We are totally depending on local made technology to meet expense in the limited budget."
Replying to another question, he said the gas is being generated through coal at small scale and "we have achieved success in this regard."
He said "We have also made success on fresh water projects in the area."
