Power shortfall reduces to 2,900 MW

ISLAMABAD: The power shortfall in the country on Monday dropped to 2,900 MW as the total generation was recorded 11,600 MW against the demand of 14,500 MW during the last 24 hours.

According to report on daily power generation and load-management position, the hydel generation stood at 4,250 MW, WAPDA thermal 1,460 MW and IPPs 5,890 MW. Sui Southern Gas Pipeline Limited has curtailed gas to SAIF, Halmor and Saphire power plants due to tripping of Qadir Pur gas field resulting generation reduced by 600 MW.

Power generation from Guddu has also been reduced to 695 MW against 1100 MW due to heavy rain water accumulation at the plant.
