ISLAMABAD: Adviser to Prime Minister on Petroleum Dr Asim Hussain said that electricity shortfall will ease in a few days as more furnace oil is being provided to power producers.
Talking to a private news channel, he said that Prime Minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf has directed to provided 28,000 tons of furnace oil to power sector.
He said "We imported eight million tons of furnace oil in 2009-10, seven million tons in 2010-11, and only six million tons in 2011-12".
Dr. Asim Hussain said that our power production is based on furnace oil; therefore, the electricity generation was affected because less import of the furnace oil.
He further said that the prime minister has directed at the last meeting on energy that twenty-eight thousand metric tons furnace oil should be provided to all the power producers when required.
He maintained that if the supply is further increased, the generation will reach sixteen thousand megawatts.
