ISLAMABAD: More than 6.8 million families have been declared eligible through Poverty Scorecard Survey under Benazir Bhutto Income Support Programme(BISP), said an official source on Monday.

He said the remaining 3 million will start receiving BISP benefits after obtaining CNICs from NADRA, adding that government has launched BISP in July, 2008 with immediate objectives to cushion the negative effects of the food crises and inflation on the poor, particularly women, through the provision of cash.

To a question, he said data entry of survey forms including FATA is under progress and it is expected that 7 million families would be identified on completion of data entry.
