KARACHI: Shipping activity remained active at Port Qasim during last 24 hours, where two ships carrying containers and chemicals were allotted berth at Qasim International Containers Terminal and Engro Vopak Terminal on Monday, May 7, 2012. Meanwhile five more ships scheduled to load/offload containers, edible oil and chemical also arrived at outer anchorage of Port Qasim during last 24 hours, a statement issued by PQA here on Tuesday said.
Berth occupancy was 45 percent at the Port on Tuesday Where total number of five ships namely Safmarine Ngami, Indian Fortune, Endless, Norgas Patrici and Al Soor II are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, wheat, coal, chemical and diesel oil respectively during last 24 hours.
A cargo volume of 78563 tonnes comprising 57626 tonnes imports and 20937 tonnes exports inclusive of containerized cargo carried in 1206 containers (Boxes) was handle at the Port during last 24 hours.
