SIALKOT: The development work on mega project of Sialkot Tanneries Zone (STZ) on 392 acres of land is in progress which will be completed at a cost of Rs406 million.
Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry sources told APP on Saturday that tanneries functioning in and around Sialkot causing the degradation of environment.
The aim of setting up STZ is to shift around 276 existing tanneries functioning in ten clusters around Sialkot city to STZ and cope with the environmental issues caused by the tanneries.
The topographical and geotechnical survey had already been accomplished and fifty percent of the boundary wall has been constructed and development of road infrastructure would be undertaken by the end of this year, sources added.
