The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has appointed former cricketer Junaid Zia as General Manager PCB Domestic Cricket Operations following a recruitment process.

Junaid (35) who featured in four One-Day Internationals in the 2003-04 season represented Pakistan Under-19 in the ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup 2002.

Junaid played 90 first-class matches from 2002-03 to 2013-14, and took 282 wickets besides scoring 2,379 runs. He also played in 35 Twenty20 matches, taking 41 wickets.

Junaid Zia is son of the former PCB Chairman General Tauqir Zia (Retd.). Junaid has been actively working with the PCB through organising national club championship.

The slot of General Manager PCB Domestic Cricket Operations was left vacant since Shafiq Ahmad retired in June this year.

Moreover, Central Punjab's Zafar Gohar has been fined 20-per cent of his match fee for a Level 1 offence relating to showing dissent at an umpires decision during a match in his side's Quaid-e-Azam Trophy 10th round fixture against Southern Punjab at the State Bank Stadium, Karachi.

The incident happened on Tuesday, in the 143rd over of Central Punjab's first innings when Zafar delayed his departure from the crease and gestured in frustration after being adjudged LBW, which was deemed as a disagreement over the decision by the on-field umpires.

Zafar was charged for the violation of Article 2.8 of the PCB's Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel by on-field umpires, Alay Haider and Rashid Riaz.

Zafar pleaded guilty and accepted the sanction imposed by match referee Mohammad Anees, a PCB spokesman, said.
