  • Raja feels it was not a thumping victory for Pakistan, as the side has earlier stumbled on a number occasions.
  • Raja seemed not too impressed with the Men in Green's latest victory.
  • Pakistan should reboot its bowling options, and needs to bring in newness in their approach and skills.

Former Pakistan captain-turned-cricket commentator Ramiz Raja doesn’t seem too convinced with his side’s latest victory against the visiting Sri Lanka, despite Pakistan managing to kickoff their campaign on a winning note.

The hosts cruised to victory by 67 runs at the second One Day International (ODI) at National Stadium, Karachi on Monday. “It was not a thumping victory for Pakistan, as the side stumbled on a number occasions. The plan was not executed the way as it should have been,” said Raja in a video message.

The former captain was of the view that Pakistan should reboot its bowling options, and needs to bring in newness in their approach and skills.

Raja applauded fast bowler Usman Khan Shinwari, who claimed five wickets for 51 runs against the hosts, earning the Man of the Match award as well. “It is difficult to make a comeback on such a dead wicket, and dismantle the opposition’s batting line. He also bowled well in his second and third spells and took wickets regularly,” he said.

Speaking about Pakistan batting line, Raja said that the batting line should have been more aggressive against the newbie Lankan bowlers and should have posted score in excess of 350 runs.

With the ODI series 1-0, Pakistan would meet Sri Lanka in the third ODI on Wednesday at the National Stadium, Karachi.
