Faisal Iqbal slams PCB for ‘favoritism’ in giving Misbah dual roles

Former Pakistan Test batsman Faisal Iqbal has slammed the Pakistan Cricket Board's (PCB) decision of offering dual roles of  head coach and chief selector to Misbah-ul-Haq, whereas, Faisal failed to grab any post in the board.

“I thought Naya Pakistan would be full of merit?? But nothing has changed here!” tweeted Iqbal, who has represented Pakistan in 26 Tests and 18 One Day Internationals (ODI) from 2001-10.

Using various hashtags, Faisal delivered his message saying that he was neither included in the domestic team nor as a player or mentor nor given a coaching assignment. He said that appointments have been based on favoritism, adding that there are different laws for different people and merit has become a joke in Pakistan.

The PCB announced on Wednesday that former Pakistan captain Misbah-ul-Haq has been chosen as Pakistan men’s national team head coach in all three formats as well the chief selector on a three-year contract.

Meanwhile, on the recommendation of Misbah, the PCB also named two-time former head coach and ICC Cricket Hall of Fame Waqar Younis as bowling coach of the national side on a three-year contract as well.
