World Cup 2019: Skipper Sarfraz eyes the big prize and not just beating India

Pakistan versus India match is always a must watch of any cricketing tournament and with World Cup 2019 approaching

Pakistan versus India match is always a must watch of any cricketing tournament and with World Cup 2019 approaching, skipper Sarfraz Ahmed has said his aim is to win World Cup crown and not just beating India at the tournament.

“As a captain I have to see the entire tournament, we would obviously want to beat India but our focus would be on all the teams, and if we want to win the World Cup and perform well then we have to play against not just India but all other teams as well,” said Sarfraz, while talking to local media.

The skipper was of the view that the format of the upcoming World Cup 2019 is such that a side would need to win at least six or seven matches to make into the semis. “One bad day can throw you out of the tournament, so the format is not that easy and all teams would need to play with a lot of concentration,” he added.

Earlier, former Indian opening batsman Virender Sehwag said that the India Pakistan cricket match is ‘nothing less than a war’. “When India and Pakistan play a match, it is nothing less than a war. We should win the war, not lose it,” Sehwag said.

The arch-rivals are scheduled to meet each other in the round-robin match of the World Cup on June 16 at Old Trafford, Manchester.
