Vawda directs expediting Dasu Hydropower project land acquisition

ISLAMABAD: Minister for Water Resources Faisal Vawda Wednesday directed expediting Dasu Hydropower Project land acquisition process and removing all hurdles in this regard.

Chairing 12th Steering Committee Meeting of Dasu Dam Hydropower Project in Ministry of Water Resources, Vawda directed the project team to speed up land acquisition for hydropower project and showed full support to remove all hurdles therein, said a press release issued here.

He said that building of dams was among top priorities of the current government contrary to the last 50 years where no government took this matter seriously.

Dasu Hydropower project will have total installed capacity of 4,320 Mega watts of electricity with 12 generating units and is among the priority projects under the National Water Policy.

Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mahmood Khan also attended the meeting. Progress update on the project subsequent to the last meeting was shared with the steering committee.
