Govt asked to review agriculture policies
LAHORE: Hike in prices of agriculture inputs has badly affected the yield of crops, said Kisan Board Pakistan (KBP) President Sardar Zafar Hussain.
Talking to a delegation of farmers here on Monday, he said that 70 percent of the rural population was associated with the agriculture sector but flawed policies had made it difficult for farmers to recover their money spent on crops.
He alleged that sugar mills owners were fleecing sugarcane farmers as growers of rice, cotton and other crops had already faced the problem.
Electricity and gas load-shedding created problems not only for the industry but farmers, he added. He said the government should review its policies in the interest of the farming community.
