ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has decided to establish permanent polling stations across the country so that the voters could be assigned polling stations well before the elections.
An official of ECP told APP that the permanent polling stations would help ensuring transparency and credible elections by providing better access to voters as well as observers.
The improved security in polling stations especially at female polling stations will improve overall turn out will help reducing violence, he said.
After completing legal requirements, the lists of permanent polling stations would be placed on ECP's website for information of general public well in advance of the electoral process.
Permanent polling stations would resolve the complaints that the influential politicians in some cases set up polling stations of their rivals at far-flung places, where voters do not like to exercise their right to vote, which results in low turnout in such stations.
