KARACHI: Shipping activity remained active at the Port where four ships scheduled to load/offload containers and chemicals were berthed at Qasim International Container Terminal and Engro Vopak Terminal respectively on Wednesday, January 25. Meanwhile two more ships carrying containers and LPG also arrived at outer anchorage of Port Qasim during last 24 hours.
Berth occupancy was managed at the Port at 54 percent on Wednesday where a total of seven ships namely C.V CMA CGM Rossini, C.V SFU Avon, C.V Henry, M.V Leopard-B, M.V La Paloma, M.T Norgas Alameda and M.T Al-Soor are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, cement, rice, chemicals and diesel oil respectively during last 24 hours.
A cargo volume of 81,476 tonnes, comprises 54,647 tonnes imports and 26,829 tonnes exports inclusive containerized cargo carried in 2,057 containers (TEUs) was handled at the Port during last 24 hours.
Three ships C.V SFU Avon, C.V Henry and M.T Al-Soor-II sailed out to see on Thursday morning, while three more ships C.V CMA CGM Rossini, M.V Leopard-B and M.T Norgas Alameda are expected to sail same day afternoon.
A total six ships C.V Safmarine Ngomi, C.V Nora Maersk, C.V Saigon Express, M.T Shanghi, M.T Fair Spirit and MT Long Champ carrying containers, phosphoric acid, furnace oil and LPG are expected to take berth at QICT, EVTL, FOTCO and SSGCT respectively on Thursday, 26, while M.V Liberty Sun scheduled to load 20,000 tonnes rice is due arrive on at Port Qasim on Friday, January 27.
