KARACHI: Shipping activity remained active at Port Qasim during last 24 hours, where four ships carrying containers and chemical were allotted berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal and Engro Vopak Terminal on Tuesday, 17th Jan, 2012.
Meanwhile four more ships carrying containers, cement, furnace oil, and edible oil also arrived at outer anchorage of Port Qasim during last 24 hours.
Berth occupancy was 65 percent at the Port Qasim on Wednesday where total number of seven ships namely MSC Anafi, Maersk Kingston, MV. Deira, LA Paloma, MV. Estia, Gas Elixir and MV. Chem Route Sun are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, rice, diesel oil, LPG Mix and edible oil respectively during last 24 hours.
A cargo volume of 70,571 tonnes, comprising 41,497 tonnes imports and 29074 tonnes exports inclusive of containerized cargo carried in 2431 containers (Boxes) was handle at the Port during last 24 hours.
Five ships MV. Maersk Kingston, MV. Deira, Gas Elixir, Chem Route Sun and MV. Estia sailed out to sea on Wednesday morning while MSC. Anafi will sail tonight.
